I know.... we haven't Blogged anything since Thanksgiving....slackers that we are.
As most teachers know from Thanksgiving to the Winter Holiday Break is a mad sprint filled with kids getting excited, teachers becoming jaded and all of us haulin' butt to the break.
We got our Christmas tree SUPER early this year.... can you say weekend after Thanksgiving. We put up some lights and decorations and then....we got our first good snow. Since then most days have been below freezing. One morning I went to swim practice and it was -15'...... that is a negative 15 degrees Fahrenheit!!!!
We got to Heather's Birthday weekend, went to PF Changs, went out in Fort Collins, had a great time with friends and had a VERY MELLOW Sunday(Heather's 30th).
My birthday fell on the Wed prior to break so we decided to postpone that to the weekend and have fun. Well..... the swim team had a state preview meet on Saturday and so things kinda fell apart until Sunday!!!!
Sunday Dec. 21st Brice came into town, so we headed to DIA to pick him up. It also just so happened that the Portland area was SHUT DOWN due to weather and my good friend Mike King was headed back to Portland from Omaha, Neb. after attending the Final Four for Volleyball.
So we picked up Mike at the same time as Brice and set course for home. Heather made Carnitas with Grilled Stuffed Jalapenos, we drank Disgruntled Elves(the Red Robin variety) and enjoyed the hot tub and snow.
Come Monday night Eric had arranged for us to attend the Denver Nuggets v. Portland Trailblazers basketball game.(Heather's first pro bball game!!!) We sat four rows off the floor directly behind the Blazer's bench!!!! WOW!!! Greg Oden IS a BIG Kid!!! Great game, Blazers lost and we haven't fully embraced the Denver area teams. So Darn!!!
Tuesday took Mikey to the airport and relaxed in preparation for the holiday.
Christmas blog coming soon:)

Oooohhhh Gooodness Thanksgiving
Well, after hosting 35 last year and having an EPIC Family and Friends Thanksgiving we decided to do things a little different this year.
Heather really wanted to have our own cozy Thanksgiving, just the two of us, a little turkey and small portions of all our favorite dishes.
Well.... we didn't go that route. I teach at two high schools here in town, Thompson Valley HS(where I coach volleyball and swimming) and Loveland HS. At Loveland HS I share a planning period with the ex-swim coach from LHS, Marty Jaskens. Marty heard that we were just gonna do our own thing and invited us to his house with his fiance, his mother and .... as he stated, a couple of his delinquent buddies- Colorado State University Asst Dive coach and Asst Water Polo coach.
Heather decided that was a great plan, it would be fun to meet some new friends and not have to clean our own kitchen.
We arrived at Marty and Michelle's at 2pm, Marty was still in the shower, the dogs weren't sure at first if they liked me and I guess it was time to get our drink on.
To let you all know, we had a GREAT THANKSGIVING. There were a total of 6 of us, and all in all we consumed 14 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of port and ????? number of beers and special martinis. The turkey was excellent, Marty's mom made some secret Pineapple side dish that was AMAZING!!!! I am not a huge pineapple lover per say, but IT WAS GREAT!!!!
We finished off the evening with a few games of Wii bowling, which things started to taper down when Marty went to "bowl" and EXPLODED a full glass of wine on the table. Glass everywhere, wine just straight down on the table. A Wii moment that Wii owners will understand.
We FINALLY left at 11:30pm!?!?!?!?!?? An excellent Thanksgiving.
Friday morning...... a little different story. I had swim practice at 7am-9am and I barely fell out of bed in time to get to the pool, and it only takes me about 8 minutes to get there.
After, we made a quick trip to Wal-Mart because we decided we needed some left over Thanksgiving, so Heather and I put together our own little meal Friday night.
Saturday we went to Wal-Mart again....and again....and again.... getting Christmas decorations for the house and we got a tree. I know.... we think it is early too, but EVERYONE around here already has their tree so we thought we would give it a run.
So our house is starting to be Candy Cane Lane... with red, white and green candy canes in the front yard, white lights around the front porch and a little Santa welcoming you to our house. We got a 6 ft tree with multi-colored lights with Heather's old school train set going around it and our Dollar Store White Robed St. Nick topping it.
Sunday my Dad came into town, made a quick trip to Home Depot to help us decide on the right garage door opener for the house and we introduced him to Scotty O'Brian's (Peaknuckles without the food) and their famous Popper shot. The Popper is very similar to a bloody Mary shot, light on the bloody and heavy on the tingly.(Heather likes them because they make her toungue tingle) Then a nice hot tub, Heather's YUMMY enchiladas and Hancock.
Whew... after 5 days off of school it was tough to go back..... thankfully I wasn't the only teacher to feel that way this morning.
Well, that is it. Pictures will come later. Oh ya... for those still reading we also went shooting again the last weekend prior to Thanksgiving week. COLD, WINDY and FUN!!!
