Well I had to check when the last posting was, and I am sorry, not that everyone is waiting on a new posting, but it has been since the start of VB camps.
Volleyball Camp at University of Portland was a BLAST. Lost my voice the fourth day in and learned a lot. Came home with approx. 20lbs of Nike gear courtesy of Joe Houck and Mike King. It was great to be spoiled rotten because of the talent you have to teach and coach a sport.
It was wonderful to see Mrs. Erin King, early in her pregnancy, due in January with a bouncing(jumping?) baby girl. She will not tell anyone what they have chosen for a name, but it is fun to try and guess. I am going with Macarena Concepcion King..... but we will see.
My second volleyball season at Thompson Valley High School started off well. Brice and Andy came out to work camp for me.... I really appreciate it when they do this because it shows the girls the buy-in that others have with you and your coaching style.
We started out 5-0 before we lost our first match and ended season 12-3 in conference, best ever record for TVHS Volleyball, finishing 2nd in conference and ranked 5th in State, again the best ever for TVHS. We finished 17-5 overall and just missed making it to the Regional Level of State Championships.
I got a couple of votes for Conference Coach of the Year, we had three players named to the All-Conference Team, most ever for TVHS, and one of those was up for Conference Player of theYear!!!!
Our new Athletic Director is very happy about how our season went, this is a good thing as I was a little scared when I first met him and he made sure to tell me that at the Varsity level he is most concerned with wins and losses.... the last AD said he was stoked if he didn't hear from the parents and the kids were happy..... uhhhhh a little different outlook!
We are now in Girl's Swim Season.... we are the favorites to win State and in looking at our team.... it SHOWS!!! We have defeated the last 3 teams by over 100 points each and in swimming that is not being very polite and almost running up the score.
Today is Heather's Birthday..... her official present from me is a Wonder Woman Lunch Box to take with her to work. I had balloons and a banner ready for her when she woke up with the smell of coffee. Tonight we are headed to PF Chang's, Heather's fave!!!! A little sake, Kirin, Lettuce Wraps and Golden Crunchy Shrimp.......
Will post more soon...... love you all, Nathan
